CALIFORNIA - President Donald Trump's new ruling on birth control was blocked by a U.S. Federal Judge on Monday.
According to the new ruling, employers have the right to decline birth control if it is against their moral or religious convictions.
However, Judge Wendy Beetlestone of Philadelphia blocked it off. She requested an injunction by attorney generals in order to block the law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. She states that the law will make it very hard for women to practice planned parenthood as employers now have the option to forgo contraception on the basis of moral beliefs.
According to California attorney general Xavier Becerra in an interview, employers have no right to meddle in the healthcare decisions made by women in their office.
The support for both sides is divided between religious conservatives and civil rights groups.
As of Sunday, the verdict has now been applied to 14 states including the capital Washington DC.
