Things Need to Know About Kamado BBQ Grill

Why not try something new and give a kamado grill a try if you normally smoke meats and cook burgers on a gas grill? These grills may be used for a wide variety of cooking methods, including grilling, smoking, and even baking, and they heat up rapidly and evenly.

The kamado grill we use now is a reimagining of ancient Asian cooking containers from the last three thousand years. This kind of grill was first created by the Chinese for the purpose of cooking rice. These days, you can cook just about anything in one, from pizza to poultry. Among the many interesting features of these barbecues are:

  1. Kamado barbecues are typically egg-shaped and constructed from ceramic.
  2. Kamado grills use hardwood lump charcoal as its fuel source.
  3. Temperature Control A kamado bbq grill may need more time to reach the desired temperature if charcoal is used. However, the ceramic exterior will retain and reflect heat efficiently, allowing for rapid cooking.
  4. The ability to smoke or slow cook meats while leaving the grill unattended for long periods of time is just one of the many advantages of using a kamado grill.

Advantages and Capabilities

Standard gas grills are still widely used for backyard barbecues and tailgating parties. However, a gas grill cannot compete with a kamado in terms of quality and flexibility.

  1. Kamadas have the ability to keep temperatures at or over 700 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature range of the average backyard gas barbecue is just about 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Durability: If you're fortunate, your gas barbecue will last you ten years. However, a good kamado barbecue may survive for generations. Kamado grills are more costly than gas barbecues, but they pay for themselves over the long run.
  3. Gas grills are only useful for grilling, thus their versatility is limited. But with a kamado, you can slow roast, grill, or smoke whatever you desire. Some common functions and attachments for kamadas include the ability to bake pizza, fry eggs, and roast a bird.
  4. Flavor-wise, some believe that anything you cook on a gas grill will take on a somewhat bacon-like flavour. Kamados, meanwhile, provide a classic smokey taste to anything you're cooking. Additionally, the taste may be altered by utilising various lump charcoals or spiced wood chips.
  5. The larger the gas grill, the more food you can cook at once. This is very useful if you often host parties. While compact compared to gas grills, some huge kamados may be just as massive. Even better, you can take the smaller ones camping since they are so much easier to transport.

Aids and Instruments

The cooking surfaces of kamado barbecues are typically limited to grates. It's recommended that you invest in some supplementary tools and equipment in order to expand your repertoire.

A pizza, for instance, may be suitable for cooking on the grates. If you're going to create your crust from scratch, however, you'll need a pizza stone to keep the dough from leaking through the holes. The ingenious JoeTisserie, a cast-iron Dutch oven, and heat-resistant gloves are three further helpful and practical additions. Soapstone is another option since it may be used as a cooking surface without worrying about spills or scorching. It allows for more consistent cooking without the need for laborious dishwashing.
